‘Saturday Night Live’ Ratings Rise To Tie A Season High With Host Matt Damon
Saturday Night Live‘s last original telecast of 2018, with host Matt Damon, musical guests Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus, and appearances by Robert de Niro, Ben Stiller and Alec Baldwin, averaged a 4.8 Live+same day household rating in the metered markets and a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating in the markets with local people meters.

That was up sharply from last week’s show, hosted by Jason Momoa with musical guest Mumford & Sons to tie the the Sept. 29 SNL season premiere as the highest mark of the season in households and log the second highest result in 18-49 behind the opener.

The Christmas-themed episode followed a headline-making story involving the wellbeing og cast member Pete Davidson who made a brief appearance.

Saturday Night Live was the #1 telecast of the night on the Big 4 networks in both metered-market households and 18-49 in the local people meters,

‘Daredevil’ Actress Says Netflix Was Responsible for Cancellation, Not Marvel
Viewers were surprised by the cancellation of “Daredevil” last month; so was the cast. Charlie Cox called it “painful,” and now his castmate Amy Rutberg has said that even “people high up at Marvel” were shocked by the move — and that Netflix was solely responsible for the decision.

“My contacts at Marvel were very surprised. Any of the rumors that it was a Marvel decision are wrong, I think it was purely a Netflix decision. That comes from personal conversations with people high up at Marvel. They were surprised,” said Rutberg in an Inverse interview.

“We had heard rumors we would start production as early as February 2019,” she said. “It’s a little unusual to be that far ahead in the planning and cancel the show, which makes me think Netflix was laboring over whether or not to cancel it. My guess was it was not an easy decision.”

Pete Davidson Shows Christmas Spirit In Brief ‘SNL’ Appearance After Disturbing Post

Pete Davidson Shows Christmas Spirit In Brief ‘SNL’ Appearance After Disturbing Post
Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson raised a lot of concern on Saturday with an unsettling Instagram post that reportedly triggered a welfare check by NYPD. Hours later, he made a brief appearance on SNL, showing everyone that he was alive and well, and even donned a Christmas-colored outfit to fit in with the show’s Christmas theme and the song that followed him.

Davidson introduced musical guest Miley Cyrus’ performance of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s classic (Happy Xmas) War Is Over, which featured Lennon and Ono’s son, Sean Ono Lennon, as well as Mark Ronson.

This was Davidson’s only live SNL appearance tonight (he was also featured in a pre-recorded skit about new Oscar host auditions). He was not visible during the curtain call at the end of the show when the entire cast gathers on stage.

Disney Channel Fires ‘Andi Mack’ Actor Arrested for Plotting Sex With Minor
Disney Channel has severed ties with “Andi Mack” actor Stoney Westmoreland following his arrest for allegedly trying to arrange a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old.

“Stoney Westmoreland, an actor working on the series ‘Andi Mack,’ was arrested in Salt Lake City today,” a Disney Channel spokesperson said in a statement Friday. “Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors, we have released him from his recurring role and he will not be returning to work on the series which wraps production on its third season next week.”

Westmoreland plays the grandfather on the live-action series. On Friday, according to reports, he was arrested in Utah — where the series films — after attempting to arrange a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old that he met through an online dating app. According to reports citing court documents, Westmoreland asked the minor to engage in oral sex and other sexual acts,

Les Moonves Personally Oversaw Eliza Dushku’s $9.5M Settlement For ‘Bull’ Harassment Claims

Les Moonves Personally Oversaw Eliza Dushku’s $9.5M Settlement For ‘Bull’ Harassment Claims
Exclusive: As accusations of sexual harassment and sexual assault by Harvey Weinstein and others began flooding Hollywood early this year, CBS’ then-ceo Les Moonves stepped in to settle claims against one of the network’s biggest stars.

Moonves was deeply and directly involved in the $9.5 million payout that CBS forked over to Eliza Dushku in January after the actor accused Bull lead Michael Weatherly of sexual harassment on the first season of the CBS drama, we’ve learned. Additionally, the confidential payment was sneaked into Bull’s production budget in an effort apparently motivated to avoid the sum popping up on the company’s books, sources say.

The confidential agreement was struck while CBS was engaging in ultimately unsuccessful talks of a potential merger with Viacom. The settlement and its machinations were not known to then-coo Joe Ianniello, who became acting CEO after Moonves resigned in September after a dozen

Miss Universe 2018: The Winner Is...

Miss Universe 2018: The Winner Is...
The 67th Miss Universe competition, which is basically the Avengers: Infinity War of the pageant world, was held in Bangkok on Sunday. And just like the Avengers, not everyone was feeling so good by the end of Fox’s three-hour broadcast.

Once again hosted by Steve Harvey — who famously crowned the wrong Miss Universe back in 2015, a mistake he managed to avoid repeating — this year’s pageant represented a record-breaking 94 different countries and territories. In fact, the hosts’s bedazzled jacket was designed with that fact in mind, featuring one jewel for every participant.

The Best Uses of Janet Jackson Songs in Movies or TV

While you could rightfully claim that her fame was close but not quite on the same level as her brother Michael’s, Janet Jackson has still been one of the most iconic stars to ever hit the stage in her time. Even to this day when new artists are coming out in droves and are starting to make a huge push to remember the past but move on from it Janet’s legacy is holding strong since she was one of those that managed to empower a lot of younger artists that have come up through the ranks in the past few

The Five Best Michael Jai White Movies of His Career

It’s hard to imagine that Michael Jai White is in his 50s now since he looks pretty good and is still in fighting shape. He’s definitely one of those that’s the real deal or as close to it as can possibly be. He’s been into martial arts since he was 7 years of age, and at this point he looks just as skilled as he’s ever been. Michael has been in films with some of the toughest guys in the industry and has been lauded by many as one of the better martial artists around. The only failing seems to

‘Outlander’ Recap: Brianna Goes ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ — and Another Familiar Face Returns

‘Outlander’ Recap: Brianna Goes ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ — and Another Familiar Face Returns
Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Down the Rabbit Hole,” the seventh episode of “Outlander” Season 4.

“Down the Rabbit Hole” is likely to be a divisive episode, especially for those viewers who have read the books. While the return of Frank was a lovely surprise — Tobias Menzies is a talented actor and it was nice to see him get scenes with Sophie Skelton — the show also took some major liberties with Brianna’s (Skelton) journey back in time that changed the tone of her entire time in Scotland.

Outlander Recap: What Frank Knew, and When He Knew It
Need to catch up? Check out the previous Outlander recap here.

Both Brianna and Roger make the leap through time in this week’s Outlander, thank goodness. It’s been fun watching Jamie and Claire channel Bob Vila and all, but I’m ready for the Frasers and Rog all to be in one place (and century) so that the joyful reunions, tearful misunderstandings and 18th-century game of telephone* can get underway!

On a related note, this week’s episode brings back two characters we haven’t seen in a while: Frank and Laoghaire. For the first time, particularly in Laoghaire’s case,

10 Things You Didn’t Know about Kathy Griffin

One thing you can’t call Kathy Griffin is shy. She’s been around for longer than many might realize and in that time she’s been just who she wants to be which in some cases is quite impressive. But upon seeing the positive aspect you also have to realize there’s something that a lot of people won’t like since she’s not the kind of person that’s going to cater to everyone. She’s been known to go off on a tangent about things or people that rub her the wrong way and won’t be apologetic about what she says in the least

The Five Best Mandy Moore Movie of Her Career

Imagine if Mandy Moore had believed her parents when they said that her singing was ‘just as phase’ and let it drop as she got older. Things would have turned out a lot differently for her since singing is what really brought her into show business and then made her the famous individual she now is. In fact had she believed that it was just a phase she would have missed out on making one of the most iconic figures that Disney has ever seen and we might have received a very different character than we have now. Thankfully at

Timeless Team Teases Series' Ending, Talks Possibility of More Episodes

Timeless has already defied death twice, so one can’t help but wonder if the show will do the impossible (for the third time!) and find new life after the two-hour series finale (airing Dec. 20 at 8/7c on NBC).

Speaking about the possibility of more TV movies or a reunion down the road, showrunner Arika Lisanne Mittman — who penned the drama’s very final hour — says, “If that were to happen, that’d be awesome. With this show, I will never say anything’s impossible. I mean, we were the show that was cancelled and brought back three days later.

The Best Uses of Billy Currington Songs in Movies or TV

Billy Currington strikes me as one of those individuals that loves the music but doesn’t let himself get so fully involved in the business, thereby kind of keeping him from the kind of fame and fortune that others have struck. That could be erroneous however since he’s been around for a while and has been trying to stay relevant and do what he can to enjoy what he does and still make a living with it. He’s won an award in his time and been nominated for several, but it would almost seem as though he came to the party

10 Things You Didn’t Know about Rush Limbaugh

In the long history the world there are many polarizing characters that are known to draw a line in the metaphorical sand for people to cross. Rush Limbaugh is one of those that wouldn’t even draw the line, he’d likely tell those that didn’t want to see his point of view to go soak their heads in the ocean while he and his followers stayed on dry land. That might seem unkind, but the man isn’t exactly apologetic in the way he goes after certain individuals and even groups of people when it comes to trying to have his say.

Fuller House: Is Stephanie Bisexual? Where Is Urkel Being Buried? Plus More Burning Questions From Season 4

Fuller House: Is Stephanie Bisexual? Where Is Urkel Being Buried? Plus More Burning Questions From Season 4
Family sitcoms aren’t exactly known for throwing curveballs, but as we binged Fuller House‘s fourth season this weekend, we found ourselves pleasantly blindsided by the Tanner clan’s more outlandish antics. And now that we’ve made it through all 13 episodes, we have so many questions.

Yes, our list includes some obvious dangling threads (What will Stephanie and Jimmy name their baby?!), but we were also captivated by some of the season’s alleged throwaway lines. For example, was Steve and D.J.’s big La La Land homage merely a collective hallucination? Where is Steve Urkel’s body (eventually) being buried?

The Five Best Jon Pardi Songs of His Career

There are two major directions that country artists seem to travel in when it comes to trying to get famous, either to Nashville or to California. Jon Pardi traveled east to Nashville in order to make his fame, having been born and raised in California. He started writing music when he was just a teenager and continued to follow his passion all the way back to the place where so many other artists have gone seeking to make it big. So far he’s done fairly well for himself as he’s been nominated for several awards and won a couple as

Hulu’s Asmr-Inspired Holiday Videos Put a Tingle in Jingle Bells

Hulu wants viewers to turn up the volume for a good cause this year and stream its two new Asmr-inspired scenics, the latest in the streaming service’s slow-tv answer to the famed Yule log after last year’s “Puppies Crash Christmas.”

For the uninitiated, Asmr stands for “autonomous sensory meridian response,” a perceptual phenomenon in which a person experiences a physical tingling around the scalp, neck, and shoulders upon being exposed to sensory stimuli – usually auditory. The Asmr trend has inspired countless YouTube videos in which influencers whisper or manufacture noises intended to evoke the response.

“What Asmr really triggers is when you cue those visuals images in that moment with something that’s very audio-driven. It adds a level of sensory,” said Hulu’s VP of brand marketing and culture, Nick Tran.
